Studio
Welcome my constantly changing, ever evolving bedroom music studio. Here you will find a wealth of resources related to synthesizers, mixers, effects, electronic music production, studio tips, and sage advice from someone who has and continues to find new ways to organize their music making equipment. Alongside information about the gear I currently use, I will be hosting in-depth pages about specific instruments (complete with patches, controller templates, manuals, and other collected bits), as well as articles and other explainers related to my production style and my take on building a home music studio.
Oh yeah, and some music too.
Music Gear
Below are some of the synthesizers, drum machines, instruments, devices, boxes, hardware, effects, tools, technology, and other doohickies I use (or have previously used) in my studio. This collection represents my favorite music making machines, the hardware which I’ve found to be the most versatile, best sounding, and easiest to get along with when recording.
Rather than simply compiling a big list here, my intent is to share all of the valuable information and insights I’ve gathered while working with these devices. Inside each listing you’ll find my personal commentary as well as a variety of archived materials such as manuals, patches, modification guides, software, pictures, videos, and much more.
Synthesizers
Effects
I find it necessary to present this archive as these materials have become harder and harder to track down online (especially for older instruments), and as time goes on, more and more of these files will likely become unavailable. I claim no ownership over the files themselves, I am merely mirroring the material for the greater good. If I'm hosting something you created and you want me to remove it, please contact me.

Getting Started with Samples Packs
January 29, 2021
Ever wondered what the secret is to creating an inspiring piece of electronic music? Different musicians who admire different artistic inspirations will inevitably give you different answers here, but if you ask me, it all starts with a good set of samples.

Things I wish I had known before I got into synthesizers
January 26, 2018
They say that the longest journey begins with the first step. I took my first step into the world of electronic music production way back in college, getting to understand this obscure new software a friend turned me on to called Ableton Live, but it wasn’t until 2010 that I made my way into the...

Surfing the wavetable
January 16, 2015
The Elektron Monomachine. Six mono tracks, five different synthesis engines, a lot of possibilities. I had one of these machines a few years ago, actually the second synthesizer I ever purchased, but if you’ve ever used an Elektron box you know that there is a bit of a learning curve with getting adjusted to how...

A man, a plan, a Eurorack modular
October 14, 2014
As someone who has made their way through a variety of synthesizers, samplers, effects, mixers, and other machines that go bleep in the night, I’ve never gone into too much detail about modular synthesizers. It was watching Radiohead perform Idiotque on Saturday Night Live in 2000 when I first got my first glimpse of a...

Constructing a complete drum kit
October 04, 2014
Drums are the basis of any great track. Many times when crafting a song you’ll find yourself dealing with the rhythm of the track first. To some extent the rhythm ends up dictating the majority of your tune, it sets the tempo, the timbre of the individual drum hits creates a specific mood, even the...

Get your Nord Modular working under Mac OSX
May 19, 2014
The Nord Modular series of virtual analog synthesizers are incredible pieces of gear, I cannot stress this enough. While going down the rabbit hole of modular synthesis can be grossly expensive and require a great deal of space in your studio, the Nord Modular series (both the older G1, Micro Modular, or the newer G2)...
